What do Foot Professionals do?
We trim toenails, treat ingrown tonails, treat verruca, fingal infections, remove corns and callous. We also give foot care advice Many people can't manage their own toenails, maybe have limited movement, so it is helpful to get someone to cut their toenails for them.
Verruca
Verruca are warts. They are caused by a virus, are contagious and can be very painful. Children and younger adults are most at risk from them. They can go on their own but many require treatment as they can spread. These are commonly picked up at swimming pools and communal showers. Treatment does vary, but generally a course of chemical cautery combined with the Biogun provides fast and effective results.
Biogun
Biogun is used in the treatment of infection control. Is is a safe, non contact and drug free electronic method of combating surface and bear surface infections with no harmful side effects.
Athlete's Foot
Athlete's Foot is a fungal infection. It can be very itchy and sore. It thrives in warm, moist areas and can spread easily. It can be treated with an antifungal cream/powder along with the Biogun treatment. Regular tea tree oil foot baths will also be beneficial.
Corns and Callous
A corn is a collection of hard skin that is often cone shaped and goes beneath the surface of the skin, this presses on the underlying nerve endings and can often be quite painful. Callous are larger patches of hard skin that are caused by pressure and friction. Treatment is painless and can make walking comfortable again.
Wilde-Pedique - Modern toenail correction
Modern toenail correction is a means to restore the toenail partially or completely, this providing an attractive cosmetic result. The 1-Phase resin is a light-curing synthetic resin which is cured in a light unit. Wilde-Pedique is ann elastic gel which adjusts to the movements of the nails and feet. Thus the artificial nail feels completely natural, since it fits perfectly to the natural nail. The individual shading can help the discoloured nail to be covered and improved.
Hot Wax Footbath
The heat obtained from the wax treatment provides short term relief for stiff and aching joints, and arthritis and also helps to soften and smooth dry and cracked skin.
The unit is heated and the foot is quickly dipped into the melten paraffin wax, and removed immediately. This is repeated five or six times, building up the layers of wax. The foot is then wrapped up to keep the heat for 10-20 minutes.
Hot wax baths are not suitable for people with diabetes, deep vein thrombosis, inflammed skin or where there are open cuts or wounds. It should also be avoided if there are verruca present.
